The Lemonade Stand

Act 1 scene 1

Scene- On a bright, sunny day in front of a house in the friendly, suburban neighbourhood of Newcastle. The home has white clap-board and red shutters. A picket fence encloses the family home. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.

That's the saying right? Well how about when life doesn't hand you lemons? What do you do when life kicks you in the mouth and your bleeding all over your dress and the dog runs away with your citrus fruits?

That's right!! You blog about it!!

My acting career started out with high aspirations. The top of the lemon tree or bust. Nothing sour would touched my lips, grace my esophagus, or block my mojo. I graduated from college with high marks and a diploma in Theatre Arts. I moved to the city, got an agent and started performing in travelling shows, internet series, a few indie movies, I met some amazing people and learned a lot. However I never reached that peak, never got that "big break", and as time went on, even though I loved it, I didn't get from acting what I needed.

Mainly : Money.

That's right! You need it to live apparently. There are cell phone bills, transit fares, monthly rent, agent fees, and, gasp, food costs money!

So I waitress-ed, and bartend-ed, and did door to door sales.

But then life put on it's boxing gloves. My Aunt took a trip to the hospital and I decided to take a trip home, hang out with my mom and learn a thing or two about helping people.

And while I'm doing that I'm going to set up a Lemonade Stand.

Everything that I've learned from my acting experience so far, will be here in this blog.

Hopefully you learn from it, hopefully it helps you, I've learned a lot from the people in the business who waded through before me, and hopefully I make a couple of quarters to rub together doing it!!

So life has been full of a few sour surprises so far, and while I don't have any lemons, I've got a few lessons to share. Stories, advice, websites, acting resources, classes, plays, people, I'll give you all I've got and hope that your lemonade life stand does well, and hey, maybe I'll end up on the screen again some time ( I hope so) but for now this blog will do.

Thank you for reading and I hope you gleam a bit of knowledge!!

Mmmmmmmmmmm now that's refreshing!!
